Milton to Moors Tri

Report by Dave Cracknell.

To make the most of a journey to Manchester Velodrome, I entered a Tri the day before in the area.

The Inaugural ‘Milltown to Moors’ sprint Tri in the Oldham/ Saddleworth area (hence the name) is an addition to an established run series.  The profile of the course was very hilly and described as the hardest sprint Tri in the country, so quite inviting.

The pool swim was chaotic as they put 4 swimmers in each lane, on 5 second start intervals, hence no way to overtake: waiting at the end of each length is not really a race.

The bike was essentially 2 moorland climbs, alpine style and a quick descent back to T2. The run was brutal for a 5K with an ascent up to a trig point on 20% gradient roads.  A Tough little event but fun.

Unfortunately the timing system didn’t work well so we only got partial splits and  overall times (sound familiar?)  Great environment, lessons need to be learnt.
