31 Jan 2010 - Snowy Sunday Ride
Well, we got caught out good n proper on Sunday.
Left Praze as usual, Ok was a bit chilly but nothing worse than usual at this time of year. And plenty of members showed their faces, about 17 in total - not a bad turn out at all! Headed off to Black Rock then over to Carnmenellis and Stithians - Tony's bright idea was to go to Bissoe for the coffee stop (we'll blame it on him).
Just coming up to the main Falmouth-Redruth road, someone turned the hail and snow on, and in literally a few minutes the world had turned white.
Contemplating our next move (Bissoe seemed very far away at that point), someone pointed out that Burncoose Nurseries (Phil K's est.) wasn't too far up the main road. It was slippery and hard-going, traffic was a-slithering so we were ready for hot drinks all round in the Burncoose cafe, while we pondered our options.
Linda decided to call in the troops (a.k.a. hubby Simon with van plus trailor) to try to evacuate a few. The rest of us took our chances, and headed up the back roads behind Lanner heading for Four Lanes. It was dodgy for some way, but then the world was green again, not even wet on the ground. But we'd had enough, so some split off to go towards North Cliffs, while the rest of us made our way gratefully back to Praze.
Not the longest or fastest ride we've had, but it certainly had the effect of keeping the group together!
