5 Tors

The 5 Tors is a fell race of just over 8 miles and part of the Cornwall Multi-terrain Series.

This year, it was cold, but clear and sunny, which meant the views from the top of the Tors were spectacular. I would suggest taking a selection of kit options, as the conditions and temperature can vary over the duration of the event.

5 Tors Map

The race starts from Minions and the route takes you across 5 Tors;  Tregarrick Tor, Kilmar Tor, Bearah Tor, Sharp Tor and the Cheesewring. The Tors are the most difficult sections of the race, however, there are also several steady climbs thrown in.  Once you have completed the final Tor, you descend and run the disused railway track back to Minions; even this section needs careful coordination as the remains of the stone sleepers are still in place.

There are sufficient orange markers to ensure you stay on the correct route and plenty of encouraging marshals. The mountain rescue teams, on top of the highest Tors, make sure you take the safest route on the descents.

A challenging event, with far reaching views of Cornwall. (Weather permitting!)
