A very cold morning greeted us for the first running of this offroad duathlon. The race used most of Lanhydrock's recently built bike trails; the easy green as the run loop and then various of the others as a larger bike loop. It was thankfully dry and mud free, the only real challenges being the descent of the "Saw Pit" section and riding one of the downhills in reverse; lots of switchbacks. This was a much faster and more forgiving route than the recent Stinger races at Newnham.
Darrin and I did the solo race while Tony and Mel raced in the mixed relay (Mel running, even though she had run 22 miles the day before).
Well done to Phil Bristow and Phil Knuckey who both took part in round 1 of this year's two part Stinger series. Today's race was more suited to riders with it's longer bike leg. Round 2, 'Runner's Revenge' should favour the off-road runner.
